Bull Creek Cemetery History:
Bull Creek Presbyterian Church was established in 1794. The first services were held outdoors until a church building was erected in 1801. The members were settlers in the wilderness of western Pennsylvania.
Burials for the small group of settlers were in the church yard. The oldest surviving gravestone is marked 1804.
In 1955, Bull Creek Cemetery was incorporated as a separate entity from the church. Our cemetery surrounds the old Bull Creek brick church which is shuttered and no longer used as a church. The new Bull Creek Church building sits directly across Tarentum-Culmerville Road.
Burials continue today in the new section of the cemetery.
Although Bull Creek Cemetery's mailing address is Tarentum, it is located in a rural area near Culmerville, within West Deer Township, Allegheny County. It is NOT within the boundaries of Tarentum Borough.
